Privacy Policy
RoundUs — operated by Round Us LLC
Effective October 22, 2026
RoundUs connects people to mobile businesses — food trucks, carts, mobile repair, delivery, anyone who works from a route rather than an address. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it.
We have tried to write it in plain words. Where something is unusual, we say why rather than hiding it in a defined term.
The short version
- We collect what the app needs to put a vendor on a map and get an order between two people. Not more.
- We do not sell your data. Not raw, not "anonymised", not packaged as insights. There is no version of it we sell, to anyone, for any price.
- We do not keep a history of where you have been, unless you are a business and you switch it on yourself. Location's job is to show a business on the map while they are live. The one exception is a setting a business can turn on to tag their own sales with which of their own stops each one happened at — off unless they turn it on, visible to nobody but them, deleted after 12 weeks, and erasable by them at any moment. We never do this to customers.
- We never show a business who its followers are. Businesses see counts — how many people were notified — never names.
- You can download everything we hold about you at any time, free, from inside the app. No request form, no waiting.
- You can delete your account from inside the app, or by the web form linked at the end of this policy.
What we collect
If you create an account
- Email address — how you sign in.
- Display name, if you add one.
- Account type — customer or business.
- Account creation date.
We use email and password sign-in through Google Firebase Authentication. We do not see or store your password.
If you use RoundUs as a customer
- Your approximate location, while the app is open, to show which businesses are near you.
- Your last known location, stored on your account, so we can tell whether a business going live is inside the distance you asked to be told about. It is a single current value — we do not keep a trail of past locations.
- Notification settings — whether notifications are on, how far away a business can be and still notify you, and any quiet hours you set.
- A notification token for your device, so a notification can reach your phone.
- Businesses you follow.
- Your orders — what you ordered, the total, the business, timestamps, and the record of what happened to the order.
If you use RoundUs as a business
- Everything in the customer list above, plus:
- Your business listing — name, photo, category, hours, phone number, and website if you add one.
- Your live location, only while you are marked Available or Busy. When you go offline the app stops sharing it. We do not keep a trail of it.
- Your route stops, if you add them. Stops you mark private are stored reduced to an approximate area and stripped of their name.
- Which of your own stops a sale happened at — only if you turn it on. There is a setting in Reports called "Remember which stop a sale happened at." It is off unless you switch it on, and the app tells you in those words that turning it on creates a record of where you were. With it on, a sale you ring up near one of your own stops is tagged with that stop. A sale away from your stops is tagged as nothing at all — we do not record where it was. A house call is counted in a single unnamed bucket with no address and no customer name, so a customer's home is never written down. Only you can see any of it, it is in your data export, it is deleted after 12 weeks, and the same screen has a button that erases all of it immediately. Turning the setting off stops new tags but does not erase old ones — the button does that.
- Your catalog — services, prices, inventory.
- Your sales, including sales you ring up in person that never involved a customer account.
- Counts of how many people were notified when you went live, and how many were not, grouped by reason. These are numbers only. They contain no names, no accounts and no locations.
Device permissions
| Permission | What it is for | Optional? |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Showing nearby businesses; putting a live business on the map | Yes — the app works without it, with less |
| Notifications | Telling you an order arrived, or that a business you follow went out | Yes |
| Camera | Scanning barcodes when adding inventory | Yes — you can always add items by hand |
Every one of these can be refused, and RoundUs keeps working with less. None of them is used for anything except what this table says.
What we never do
These are commitments, not preferences. They are also written into the app itself, on the "Your data" screen.
- We never sell your data. Not raw, not aggregated, not anonymised, not as insights. There is no version of this we sell.
- We never hand out names. Numbers a business sees about its followers — how many were told, how many were too far away — are counts and nothing else. Nobody, including that business, is shown who those people are.
- We never show one business another business's numbers.
- We never keep a history of where you have been unless you ask us to. Location puts a business on the map while they are live, and that is its only job. There is exactly one exception and it exists because businesses asked for it: a business can switch on a setting that tags their own sales with which of their own stops each one happened at. It is off until they turn it on. Nobody but them can see it — not customers, not other businesses, and we never combine it with any other business's. It is deleted after 12 weeks, and they can erase every bit of it from inside the app at any time, without asking us. We never do this to a customer, and we never do it to a business who has not switched it on.
- We never use your contact details to advertise to you, and never give them to anyone who will.
Who else can see your information
Other people using RoundUs. A business's listing, hours, category and live position are public to people using the app — that is the point of it. When you place an order, the business sees your display name and what you ordered. When a business confirms an order, you see their name and the time they gave.
Companies that run our infrastructure. RoundUs is built on Google Firebase (authentication, database, file storage, notifications and server functions) and uses Google Maps to draw the map. They process data on our behalf under their own terms. We do not give them data for their own purposes.
Nobody else. We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies that sell audience data. If that ever changed, it would require your consent and this policy would say so before it happened.
If the law requires it. We would comply with a valid legal order. We would tell you unless we were legally prohibited from doing so.
How long we keep things
- Your account and its contents — until you delete them.
- Orders — kept as the record of a transaction between two people. See "When you delete your account" below for what happens to them.
- A note about a late cancellation — 90 days, then it clears on its own.
- The stop a sale happened at, for a business who switched that setting on — 12 weeks, then it clears on its own. The sale itself stays; only the place is removed. The business can also erase all of it immediately from the Reports screen.
- Weekly notification counts for a business — kept as that business's own record of their reach.
- Files we could not delete during an account deletion, such as a stranded photo — we log the failure and remove it when we find it.
When you delete your account
You can do this yourself: Menu → Profile → Delete my account, or through the web form at the end of this policy. We ask for your password first, to be sure it is really you.
What is deleted: your profile, your account record, your business listing and its photo, your services, inventory, route stops, sales, favorites, and your authentication account. You will not be able to sign in again.
What is kept, and why: orders are anonymised rather than deleted.
An order is a shared document. It is at the same time the business's sales record and the customer's receipt. If we erased the row when one person left, we would tear a hole in the other person's history — someone who did nothing, chose nothing, and gets no explanation for why last Tuesday is missing from their records.
So when you delete your account, your name is removed from your orders and replaced with a placeholder, and the rest of the order — items, total, dates, what happened — stays as the other party's record. The internal account reference stays too, but after deletion it points at nothing: there is no account and no profile behind it, so it is an opaque string rather than an identity. It exists so the other person's order list still groups correctly.
Google Play permits retaining records for security, fraud prevention or regulatory compliance where the privacy policy says so. This is us saying so, in the plainest words we could find.
You cannot delete your account while you have open orders. Someone is waiting on the other end. Finish or cancel them first, and the app will tell you which ones.
Getting your data out
Menu → Your data → Export my data. You get a complete JSON file and a CSV of your orders. It is free, it is not rate-limited, and it does not require a request or a waiting period.
The files are generated on your phone from your own account and shared through your device's own sharing menu. RoundUs never sees where you send them.
Children
RoundUs is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port your information, and to object to certain processing.
We have tried to make these rights into buttons rather than paperwork: export is two taps and deletion is two taps. If you want something that isn't in the app, write to us at the address below and we will do it.
If you are in California: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, and we do not process it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy right.
Changes to this policy
If we change it in a way that affects what we collect or what we do with it, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect — not by quietly updating a date at the top of a page.
What changed on October 22, 2026
We added the business setting that tags a sale with which of that business's own stops it happened at. Having said we would not update a date quietly, here is the plain version: that setting went into the app on October 9, and this policy did not say so until today. For those two weeks this page carried a flat promise — "we never keep a history of where you have been" — that was no longer true for a business who had switched the setting on.
Nothing was collected from anyone it should not have been. The setting is off until a business turns it on, the screen it lives on has always said in so many words that turning it on creates a record of where you were, and no business outside our own testing had it on. The failure was that this page said one thing while the app did another, and we would rather write that down than let a date change cover it.
